नमाज़ की पुकार; सामान्यतः मुअज़्ज़िन द्वारा प्रतिदिन की पाँच अनिवार्य नमाज़ों से पहले दी जाने वाली अज़ान।
The call to prayer, usually recited by a muezzin before each of the five obligatory daily prayers.

If one were to pray alone and cannot hear the adhan from a nearby mosque, then giving both the adhan and iqamah is Sunnah (recommended).
